Learning to relax deeper into the hold

What I learned!
Today, I decided to let the app guide my session instead of letting my coach play with the timing. It was a good opportunity to try something different and see how it influenced my breath hold.
During the session, I noticed something I hadn’t expected. Every announcement from the app immediately pulled my attention away from my relaxation and made me more alert again. It felt as though each voice prompt interrupted the calm, parasympathetic state I had worked so hard to create.
It reminded me how important a good buddy is.
A calm, familiar voice at the right moment can help you stay relaxed and confident. For me, the app’s announcements were either a little too loud, or perhaps the tone of the voice simply didn’t suit me. Whatever the reason, I realized that even small details like this can have a surprisingly big impact on how comfortable a breath hold feels.
Sometimes, it’s not the training table that needs adjusting—it’s the environment you create around it.

What I liked!
- not knowing the times and the not “even” timings (15s, 30s or 45s).
- the blanket around me.
What I found hard!
- in the last hold I actively told myself that the voice will talk to me in a few seconds and I should freak out from it.
- I hate that I get jump scared so easily.
- Training got canceled due to a closed pool 🙁 Therefore the plan needed to switch.

Tip of the DAY!
Your brain loves to protect you from surprises. Even a small “jump scare” can switch your body from relaxation into alert mode—so create a calm environment where your mind knows it is safe.
The goal for tomorrow!
- Have a relaxed day and finish my work tasks of the week
- Prepare the breathing cycle for Friday 🙂
