Stretching & Relaxation

What I learned!

Relaxing is hard.

People often say, “Just relax,” or “Don’t worry, everything will be fine.” But anyone who has struggled with stress, anxiety, or an overactive mind knows it’s rarely that simple.

Our brains have an incredible ability to focus on the smallest details. Sometimes that’s helpful—it keeps us prepared and aware. Other times, it means we spend far too much energy worrying about things that won’t matter a week from now.

Today’s recovery session reminded me that learning to relax is a skill, just like improving a breath hold. I spent time stretching, practicing gentle equalization techniques, and simply slowing everything down. Without the pressure of a stopwatch, I found it much easier to reconnect with my breathing and be fully present.

One of the biggest lessons I’m learning on this journey is that recovery is part of training—not a break from it. Relaxation, stretching, and gentle mobility are all investments in future performance. They help my body recover, improve flexibility, and remind me that freediving is built on calmness, not constant intensity.

Sometimes the best way to move forward is to give yourself permission to pause.

Tip of the DAY!

You don’t need to earn recovery—it’s part of the training itself. A relaxed body and a calm mind often perform better than a tired one.

The goal for tomorrow!

  • To have no expectations and be grateful with any result that I’ll perform 🙂

Idea for Fridays

Starting this Friday, I’ll be leading a weekly online breathing and relaxation session.

The focus will not be on chasing longer breath holds, but on building the foundation that makes comfortable apnea possible:

Learning to relax before and during breath holds
Becoming more aware of your breathing patterns
Creating a calmer connection between body and mind
Feeling comfortable, confident, and strong during apnea

During the session, I will share some of the techniques and small tips that have helped me on my own journey toward longer and more relaxed breath holds.

If someone is interested send me a message! Until end of August they will be free of cost, so you can join and see if it fits you 🙂 I would love to receive feedback of any kind!
